Maternity nurses work 5, 5.5 or 6 days a week, 24 hours shifts or an 8 – 12 hour shifts during days or nights only. Maternity nurses are self-employed and their salaries depend on experience, location, qualifications and whether they are responsible for a single baby, twins or triplets.
